This Menispermaceae was described by William Grant Craib in 1922. It's from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, where it grows in a rich soil with some water and not too much sun. The flowers are, as seen on the photo, very small and yellow. The caudex can grow to ten centimetres in diameter, the vines reach for 50 centimetres or more.

The genera name after Stephan Ladislaus Endlicher, 1804-1849, an Austrian botanist who formulated a major system of plant classification. The species name means 'upright' for its growing form.

The new stem will grow to half a meter and set flowers. Then the leaf will come. I cut it back one year, and exactly the same happened once again!
